Abstract

El artículo plantea una reflexión sobre el impacto de la tecnología en la humanidad: ¿nos hará más humanos o nos conducirá a la extinción? Se menciona la serie Years and Years, en la que una adolescente expresa su deseo de convertirse en digital, representando el transhumanismo, una corriente que busca mejorar o trascender la condición humana mediante la tecnología. Se destaca el papel de la inteligencia artificial (IA), desde su versión más limitada (narrow AI) hasta la posibilidad de una Inteligencia Artificial General (AGI), que podría igualar o superar las capacidades humanas. El texto también explora la relación entre la IA y la ética, señalando la necesidad de un desarrollo responsable para el bien común. La Iglesia Católica, a través del documento Antiqua et Nova, propone una visión equilibrada de la tecnología, destacando la importancia de la dignidad humana, la ética y la responsabilidad en el uso de la IA. Se abordan desafíos como la discriminación algorítmica, la privacidad, la justicia social y el impacto de la IA en el trabajo, la educación y la religión.
The article reflects on the impact of technology on humanity: Will it make us more human, or will it lead us to extinction? It mentions the series Years and Years, in which a teenager expresses her desire to become digital, representing transhumanism, a movement that seeks to enhance or transcend the human condition through technology. The role of artificial intelligence (AI) is highlighted, from its limited form (narrow AI) to the potential development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), which could match or surpass human capabilities. The text also explores the relationship between AI and ethics, emphasizing the need for responsible development for the common good.
