Dejar el dolor en el pijama: Oncología Infantil

Abstract

¿Cómo se siente un niño con cáncer?, ¿y su familia? ¿es necesario explicarle qué le pasa?, ¿podrá entenderlo?, ¿cómo seguir trabajando un día que ha empezado con la muerte de un niño?, ¿hasta qué punto es bueno empatizar?, ¿cómo podré ayudarles?, ¿qué puedo hacer para amenizar su estancia hospitalaria?... Éstas son solo algunas de las mil dudas que se plantean muchos nuevos profesionales cuando llegan por primera vez a la Unidad de Oncología Pediátrica de un hospital, porque el dolor, cuando es de un niño, es aún más difícil de digerir. Este proyecto pretende proporcionar a los profesionales de enfermería herramientas para prestar atención al niño tanto a nivel asistencial como psicológico. Para ello se analizan los diferentes tipos de cáncer, su epidemiología, los principales tratamientos, consecuencias, efectos secundarios y las nuevas terapias de apoyo que favorecen la adaptación del niño y su familia al entorno hospitalario.

How does a child with cancer feel, And his family?, Is it necessary to explain him what happens?, Will he be able to understand it?, How to keep working a day which started with the death of a child?, To what extent is good to empathize?, How can I help them?, What can I do to liven up their hospital stay?... These are just some of the thousand doubts that arise from many new professionals when they first arrive at the Pediatric Oncology Unit of a Hospital, because the pain, when is from a child, is even harder to digest. This project aims to provide tools to nurses, to pay attention to the child, both care and psychological level. For this purpose, different types of cancer, epidemiology, the main treatments, consequences, side effects and support new therapies that promote adaptation of the child and family to the hospital environment are analyzed.
