La fotografía como quietud e inquietud

Abstract

El propósito de este trabajo es el de plantear de qué modo la fotografía, en tanto que manifestación artística propia del mundo moderno, responde a las inquietudes a las que se enfrenta el hombre de hoy, y de qué manera nos ayuda a reflexionar sobre cuestiones tan importantes como nuestra relación con el tiempo, la memoria, la vida, la muerte y el encuentro fotográfico con el otro y con uno mismo. Para ello nos serviremos principalmente de los escritos sobre fotografía de Walter Benjamin y Roland Barthes, sin descartar a otros autores, para luego examinar el trabajo de algunos fotógrafos y ver como se reflejan de manera concreta en su obra las cuestiones tratadas.The aim of this paper is to consider the way in which photography, as an artistic expression of the modern world, responds to some concerns that modern man faces, as well as how it helps us to reflect on such essential issues as time, memory, life, death, and the photographic encounter with the other and with ourselves. For this examination, we will turn primarily to the writings of Walter Benjamin and Roland Barthes on photography, though without excluding other authors, in order to consider the work of selected photographers and see how they reflect the aforementioned questions and themes.
