¿Qué buscáis? (Jn 1,38)

Abstract

Un religioso joven se asoma al reto de describir la relación entre juventud y vida religiosa. El autor se pregunta si no hay una ansiedad excesiva en la vida religiosa respecto a lo que puedan precisar o desear los que vienen por detrás. Frente a voces que se alzan reclamando cambios profundos, la tesis del autor va a ser que los religiosos deben estar en el lugar de siempre, pero con todo el corazón. En opinión del autor, la verdadera novedad que un religioso puede ofrecer a los jóvenes de hoy consiste en vivir su consagración hasta el fondo. En esta clave realiza una relectura de los tres consejos evangélicos de castidad, pobreza y obediencia. Los religiosos, como san Juan Bautista, no son un fin en sí mismos, sino el dedo que apunta a Jesús.

A young religious man peeks into the challenge of describing the relationship between young people and religious life. The author wonders if there is not an excessive anxiety in religious men and women regarding what those coming behind them could need or wish. In the face of certain voices who claim for deep changes, the author’s thesis is that religious men and women must stay where they have always been, but with all their heart. In his opinion, the genuine novelty that a religious man or woman can offer today to young people consists in living their consecration all the way down. With this key, he performs a rereading of the three evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty and obedience. Religious men and women, like Saint John the Baptist, are not an end in themselves but the finger which points towards Jesus.
