La experiencia mística, experiencia de unidad, según el maestro Eckhart

Abstract

Las sugerentes y radicales palabras del Maestro Eckhart, dominico alemán de comienzos del siglo XIV, han sido consideradas desde perspectivas muy diversas. Algunos expertos, como el catedrático alemán de filosofía medieval, Kurt Flash, han cuestionado que Eckhart sea un místico, proponiendo enmarcarlo en un planteamiento puramente filosófico. Sin embargo, una lectura atenta de sus escritos, tanto alemanes como latinos, permite entender su propuesta como una invitación a la unión sin distinción con Dios: llegar a ser “uno con uno, uno de uno, uno en uno y, en uno, uno eternamente” (como afirma el Maestro alemán al final de su sermón Del hombre noble).

The suggestive and radical words of Meister Eckhart, the German Dominican of the early fourteenth century, have been interpreted from many different perspectives. Some scholars, such as the German professor of medieval philosophy Kurt Flasch, have questioned whether Eckhart should be considered a mystic, proposing instead to place him within a purely philosophical framework. However, a careful reading of his writings, both in German and in Latin, allows us to understand his proposal as an invitation to a union with God without distinction: to become “one with One, one from One, one in One, and, in the One, one eternally” (as the German Master affirms at the end of his sermon On the Noble Man).
