Art i representació als espais interiors de Mallorca. El Renaixement i el canvi de gust al segle XVI

Abstract

El capítulo analiza la evolución de los espacios interiores en Mallorca durante el siglo XVI, centrándose en la introducción del Renacimiento y el cambio de gusto artístico. A través del estudio de inventarios notariales, se examinan elementos arquitectónicos, decorativos y mobiliarios presentes en las viviendas de la nobleza y la burguesía. Se observa la persistencia de la tradición gótica junto con la progresiva incorporación de influencias italianas y valencianas. La investigación destaca el papel del arte como medio de representación social, evidenciado en la presencia de pinturas, esculturas, tapices y objetos decorativos. Asimismo, se analiza la predominancia de la temática religiosa frente a la profana y la lenta adopción de nuevas técnicas y estilos en el contexto mallorquín.

The chapter analyzes the evolution of interior spaces in Mallorca during the 16th century, focusing on the introduction of the Renaissance and the transformation of artistic taste. Based on the study of notarial inventories, it examines architectural, decorative, and furnishing elements present in the homes of the nobility and bourgeoisie. The study reveals the persistence of Gothic tradition alongside the gradual incorporation of Italian and Valencian influences. It highlights the role of art as a means of social representation, reflected in paintings, sculptures, tapestries, and decorative objects. Furthermore, it discusses the predominance of religious themes over secular ones and the slow adoption of new techniques and styles within the Mallorcan context.
