De Arcadia a palacio: desarrollo de la representatividad ideológica de la Edad de Oro castellana en el teatro de Juan del Encina

Abstract

Con este trabajo se quiere subrayar la importancia de un texto como es la Traslación de las Bucólicas de Juan del Encina a la luz de los acontecimientos histórico-políticos de finales del siglo XV; no solo por su originalidad y pertinencia, sino por su interés como fuente artística y representativa en los orígenes del teatro español. Asimismo, en él se analiza la Representación sobre el poder de Amor (1497) bajo el prisma de la influencia virgiliana y del afianzamiento del discurso providencialista como primera forma de una nueva representatividad de la Edad de Oro castellana en el teatro cortesano. La consolidación de la égloga y la aparición por primera vez de personajes mitológicos –entre otros aspectos– darán cuenta de la importancia dramática, pero también representativa que tuvo dicha pieza en los inicios del teatro español.

With this work we want to emphasize the importance of the Juan del Encina’s text Traslación de las Bucólicas in the historical-political events of the late 15th century. This work is essential, in addition to its originality and relevance, for its interest as an artistic source and representative in the origins of Spanish theater. Also, it analyzes the Representación sobre el poder de Amor (1497) under the prism of the virgilian influence and the reinforcement of the providentialist discourse as the first form of a new representation of the Castilian Golden Age in the court theater. The consolidation of the dramatic eclogue and the first appearance of mythological characters –among other aspects– will show the dramatic and representative importance that this piece had in the beginnings of Spanish theater.
