De los ideales a los hechos: análisis de las inconsistencias entre valores y comportamientos en cuatro dimensiones ético-sociales

Abstract

El capítulo analiza las inconsistencias entre valores declarados y comportamientos en cuatro ámbitos ético-sociales: convivencia con personas inmigrantes, tolerancia religiosa, solidaridad y compromiso ambiental. A partir de las encuestas del Observatorio de la Cultura del Encuentro de 2021 y 2023, el estudio identifica brechas valor-conducta tanto negativas como positivas. Los resultados muestran que una parte de la ciudadanía expresa valores favorables a la inclusión, la diversidad, la ayuda social o la sostenibilidad, pero no siempre traduce esos principios en conductas coherentes. El texto destaca barreras materiales, culturales, psicológicas y estructurales que dificultan la acción. También subraya la necesidad de políticas públicas, intervenciones educativas y estrategias sociales que reduzcan prejuicios, promuevan la convivencia y faciliten prácticas solidarias y sostenibles.

The chapter examines inconsistencies between declared values and actual or hypothetical behaviours in four ethical and social areas: coexistence with immigrants, religious tolerance, solidarity, and environmental commitment. Drawing on the 2021 and 2023 surveys of the Observatory of the Culture of Encounter, the study identifies both negative and positive value-action gaps. The findings show that many citizens express favourable values regarding inclusion, diversity, social support, and sustainability, but these values are not always translated into consistent practices. The chapter points to material, cultural, psychological, and structural barriers that limit action. It also stresses the need for public policies, educational initiatives, and social strategies aimed at reducing prejudice, encouraging coexistence, and enabling more solidary and sustainable forms of civic behaviour.
