Estudiar Historia desde la Literatura: la Batalla de Inglaterra

Abstract

La llamada "Batalla de Inglaterra" es uno de los episodios más importantes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, por ser la primera vez que Hitler sufre un golpe importante en sus ambiciones.La resistencia de Churchill y, con él, de toda Inglaterra supondrá la primera piedra de un edificio de naciones que se van a oponer al III Reich. Resulta por tanto un tema de vital importancia para llevar al aula y dedicar un esfuerzo a estructurar estrategias didácticas que ayuden a comprenderlo mejor. En este punto la Literatura aparece como un recurso de gran valor para la enseñanza de los distintos momentos históricos. Debemos aprovechar la oportunidad de poder disponer de textos literarios de excelente calidad que nos ayudarán a ilustrar mejor nuestras explicaciones de los hechos históricos.Eso pretende este artículo: reflexionar sobre la relación entre Historia y Literatura, explicar la Batalla de Inglaterra e ilustrarla con textos literarios que ayuden a entender los acontecimientos que aquí se exponen.

The so-called «Battle of Britain» is one of the key episodes of the Second World War due to the fact that it marks the first time that Hitler s ambitions were slowed down in a severe way.Churchill s resistance,and with him England s, means the first stone of a building made of nations facing the III Reich. It is therefore a deeply significant issue to take into the classroom, and for structuring didactic strategies to help with its understanding. At this point, Literature is shown as an unbeatable area for supporting History. We should reach it,we have the possibility to take advantage from great quality literary texts which deal with these matters to illustrate historical explanations. That is the purpose of this article, to reflect about the relationship between History and Literature, to explain the «Battle of Britain» and to illustrate it providing literary texts that help us understand the situations and events in question.
