La traducción audiovisual para el público infantil: análisis de las canciones de Phineas y Ferb

Abstract

El presente trabajo muestra la importancia que tiene seguir unas pautas en el momento de traducir para conseguir un buen resultado. En concreto nos centramos en las características específicas del doblaje y de la traducción audiovisual para el público infantil. Para ello, en primer lugar, se realiza una introducción a la traducción audiovisual, así como a la traducción para el público infantil. Con ello destacamos un aspecto importante de los medios audiovisuales dirigidos a los niños: las canciones. En este apartado nos centramos en uno de los autores que ha escrito sobre el tema, Peter Low. Él ha desarrollado una teoría que denomina «Principio de Pentatlón», en la que describe cinco criterios (sentido, «cantabilidad», rima, ritmo y naturalidad) que se analizan en la parte práctica. En segundo lugar, se realiza el análisis de tres de las canciones que aparecen en la serie de dibujos animados Phineas y Ferb. En él se utilizan tablas para comparar la versión original (inglés) con su doblaje al castellano y se tienen en cuenta los criterios que describe Low en su teoría. Finalmente, se extraen conclusiones derivadas del análisis de las dos versiones y se plantean posibles líneas de investigación que se pueden realizar en el futuro si se continúa con la investigación.

This investigation shows the importance of following a few guidelines when translating to obtain a good result. In particular, it focuses on the specific features of dubbing and of multimedia translation for children. To achieve this goal, an introduction to multimedia translation is made, as well as to translation for children. That’s why we emphasize an important aspect of audio-visual media for children: songs. In this section we look at one of the authors who has studied the subject, Peter Low. He has developed a theory denominated «Pentathlon Principle», where he describes five criteria (sense, singability, rhyme, rhythm and naturalness) that are used for the analysis in the practical part of this paper. Secondly, an analysis of three of the songs that are featured in the children’s TV show Phineas and Ferb is carried out. Throughout this analysis tables are used to compare the original version (English) with the Spanish one, and all the criteria of Low’s theory are considered. Finally, conclusions from the analysis of both versions are drawn and then possible future research lines are raised, so that the investigation in this field of study may continue.
