Humor e imaginación : análisis de las estrategias de traducción en la literatura infantil de Roald Dahl

Abstract

Roald Dahl fue un autor prolífico que nutrió la imaginación de millones de niños. En su literatura se puede encontrar humor, crítica y creación de palabras originales. Por ello, el objetivo de este trabajo es el estudio de la literatura infantil de Roald Dahl a través de un análisis traductológico. Entre los procedimientos literarios de los que se sirvió el autor se destaca el humor, gracias al cual creó términos inéditos. En consecuencia, se muestran palabras inventadas por el autor, como caractónimos, neologismos y juegos de palabras, junto con un análisis e investigación de las traducciones al español y francés. Así, se reflejan los problemas de traducción a los que se puede enfrentar un traductor. Se muestran, asimismo, estudios de traducción de diferentes lingüistas, filólogos y traductores y las diferentes traducciones y herramientas de las que puede valerse un profesional de este campo. En este contexto, para explicar las diferentes estrategias que puede emplear un traductor, se muestra un análisis comparativo de diferentes textos que pertenecen a "Charlie y la fábrica de chocolate", "Charlie y el gran ascensor de cristal" y "Las brujas" junto con sus análogos en español. Gracias a este estudio comparativo, al término de este trabajo se muestran conclusiones y reflexiones sobre los procedimientos llevados a cabo por Verónica Head y Maribel de Juan, traductoras de los textos elegidos para el análisis.

Roald Dahl was a prolific writer that nurtured the imagination of millions of children. In his literature it can be found humor, criticism and creation of original words. Therefore, the aim of this work is the study of children's literature by Roald Dahl through a translatological analysis. Among the literary procedures used by the author, it’s pointed out his humor, thanks to which he created new terms. Consequently, words invented by the author are shown, such as proper names with a semantic burden, neologisms and word games, together with an analysis and research of the translations into Spanish and French. In this way, the translation problems that a translator may face are reflected. It also shows translation studies by different linguists, philologists and translators, and the different translations and tools that a professional in this field can use. In this context, in order to explain the different strategies that a translator can employ, a comparative analysis of different texts belonging to "Charlie and the chocolate factory", "Charlie and the great glass elevator" and "The witches" along with their analogous in Spanish is shown. Thanks to this comparative study, at the end of this work conclusions and reflections are shown about the procedures carried out by Verónica Head and Maribel de Juan, translators of the texts chosen for the analysis.
