Análisis de la mujer en "Memorias de un solterón" de Emilia Pardo Bazán

Abstract

El presente trabajo estudia a la mujer en la novela Memorias de un solterón, a través de los personajes de Mauro, Feíta y Rosa, destacando los aspectos más relevantes de cada uno de ellos y relacionándolos con el pensamiento feminista de Emilia Pardo Bazán. La caracterización de los personajes en Memorias de un solterón sirve a Pardo Bazán para legitimar la figura de la mujer nueva (Feíta), intelectual e independiente, y deslegitimar la figura de la mujer burguesa típica del siglo XIX (Rosa), condicionada por una sociedad que quiere a la mujer atada al hombre e instruida en una educación diferenciada.

This paper is an analysis of the woman in the novel Memorias de un solterón. It studies the characters Mauro, Feíta and Rosa, highlights the most relevant aspects of each one of them and relates their characterization to the feminist thinking of Emilia Pardo Bazán. The way in which the characters in Memorias de un solterón are portrayed serves Pardo Bazán to legitimize the figure of the new woman (Feíta), intellectual and independent, and to delegitimize the figure of the typical bourgeois woman of the 19th century (Rosa), conditioned by a society that demanded women to be tied to men and remain ignorant.
