Interpretación con Refugiados. El derecho de asilo : Lost in translation?

Abstract

Con el incremento de las llegadas de refugiados a nuestras costas ha aumentado la cantidad de personas extranjeras que se ven con la necesidad de comunicarse con los servicios públicos. Así, el objetivo del presente trabajo es el de estudiar la calidad de los servicios de interpretación que se ofrecen en la actualidad a aquellas personas que buscan o han obtenido algún tipo de protección internacional en España. Analizaremos las dificultades de este tipo de interpretación y los problemas a los que se enfrentan los refugiados y los intérpretes que trabajan en este ámbito. Un área que percibimos como un asunto pendiente para los estudios de Traducción e Interpretación.

With the increase of refugee arrivals to our coasts, the number of foreign people who find themselves in the need of communicating with the public services has risen. Thus, the aim of this paper is to study the quality of the interpretation services that are offered to those seeking or having obtained some form of international protection in Spain. We will analyze the difficulties of this field of work and the problems faced by the refugees and the interpreters that work in this area, that is seen as a pending issue for Translation and Interpreting studies.
