Thomas Bradwardine (Doctor profundus) y el debate moderno sobre la libertad, la contingencia y la providencia.

Abstract

El presente artículo pretende mostrar la importancia y, sobre todo, la influencia de la obra filosófico- teológica de Tomás Bradwardine en los siglos XV, XVI y XVII. Sin tener presente el pensamiento del conocido como Doctor Profundus, es difícil estudiar, con el rigor que merece, la disputa que enfrentó a algunas de las mentes más brillantes de lo que conocemos como modernidad, en la que se debatía sobre la libertad, la contingencia, la necesidad y la providencia.

This article aims to show the importance and, above all, the influence of the philosophical-theological work of Tomás Bradwardine in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. Without keeping in mind the thought of Doctor Profundus, it is difficult to study, with the rigor it deserves, the dispute that confronted some of the brightest minds of what we know as modernity, in which freedom, contingency was debated , the need and the providence.
