Los sacramentos, abrazos divinos. ¿Por qué y para qué celebramos los sacramentos?

Abstract

Los sacramentos son, mientras peregrinamos sobre la tierra, nuestro contacto con el cielo. Son espacio de encuentro con Cristo, en el Espíritu. Son umbrales donde celebramos nuestra pertenencia al cielo. Son acciones epicléticas y doxológicas de la Iglesia en virtud del sacerdocio común de sus miembros. Nos introducen en el misterio de la Trinidad y nos orientan hacia el Padre y hacia su Reino. Desvinculados de las otras dimensiones de la Iglesia, que son el anuncio o testimonio (martyria), el servicio (diakonia) y la comunión (koinonia), pierden su sentido y se atrofian. En el organismo sacramental que es la Iglesia, la Eucaristía late como su corazón.

The sacraments are our contact with heaven as we make our pilgrimage on earth. They are a place of encounter with Christ, in the Spirit. They are thresholds where we celebrate our belonging to heaven. They are epicletic and doxological actions of the Church by virtue of the common priesthood of its members. They introduce us to the mystery of the Trinity and guide us towards the Father and his Kingdom. When detached from the other dimensions of the Church, which are proclamation or witness (martyria), service (diakonia) and communion (koinonia), they lose their meaning and become atrophied. In the sacramental organisation that is the Church, the Eucharist beats like its heart.
