Abstract

Los primeros viajes al cielo. Recorrido por el Medio Oriente Antiguo presenta el panorama histórico, geográfico y literario donde embrionariamente se gestan las concepciones y la imaginería sobre el cielo que adquirirá sucesivos desarrollos. La investigación consta de dos partes. La primera, "De los dioses-cielo a los dioses en el cielo", pone de relieve cómo las antiguas cosmogonías son teogónicas. Es decir, el cielo es un dios. Solo en un segundo momento, el espacio celeste se convierte en la morada de los dioses. Tanto los textos como la iconografía dan habida cuenta de su naturaleza, composición y estratificación. La segunda parte, "De los dioses en el cielo al cielo en los dioses", muestra cómo la literatura antigua no soporta la estricta separación entre cielo y tierra pues continuamente se narran injerencias, sea porque la divinidad quiere también habitar en la tierra (el templo), sea porque algunos seres humanos acceden a la esfera celeste.
