Financing of trafficking in human beings in spain

Abstract

Este trabajo describe los aspectos económicos procedentes de la trata de seres humanos con fines de explotación sexual y laboral, de las organizaciones de tratantes que operan en España. Se ha utilizado una metodología cualitativa para obtener la información mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas a fiscales, policías de los distintos cuerpos policiales españoles, y otros informantes, además de entrevistas a seis personas condenadas por el delito de trata que están cumpliendo su condena. Así mismo se han analizado más de 80 sentencias de trata de seres humanos y un análisis de las memorias de distintos organismos públicos y privados relacionados con la trata. El siguiente informe explica, en primer lugar, el coste que le supone las víctimas de trata de seres humanos para sus tratantes, que generalmente se centra en los conceptos de traslado hasta España; oscilando entre 100 de Europa del este a 10.000 de África subsahariana. En segundo lugar, se describe el mercado sexual y laboral y se indica el dinero que obtienen de las víctimas, mediante la explotación sexual o laboral, exigiéndoles deudas entre los 4.000 a 80.000 por cada víctima. Por último, las formas de gestionar el dinero conseguido, entre las que destacamos transferencias a sus países de origen, método Hawala, envío en metálico mediante personas o contenedores de productos, o remesadores, entre las principales.

his paper describes the economic aspects of human trafficking for sexual and labor exploitation, trafficking organizations that operate in Spain. A qualitative methodology has been used to obtain the information through semi-structured interviews with prosecutors, police officers of the different Spanish police forces, and other informants, as well as interviews with six people convicted of the crime of trafficking who are serving their sentence. Likewise, more than 80 sentences of trafficking in human beings and an analysis of the reports of different public and private organizations related to trafficking have been analyzed. The following report explains, in the first place, the cost that the victims of trafficking in human beings have for their traffickers, which generally focuses on the concepts of transfer to Spain; ranging from 100 from Eastern Europe to 10,000 from sub-Saharan Africa. Secondly, the sexual and labor market is described and the money obtained from the victims is indicated, through sexual or labor exploitation, demanding debts between 4,000 and 80,000 for each victim. Finally, the ways to manage the money obtained, among which we highlight transfers to their countries of origin, Hawala method, sending cash through people or containers of products, or remitters, among the main ones.
