The way of creating religious belief in the present culture is characterized as: individualistic, tending to relativism, within a crumbling Christianity, prone to syncretism and focused on emotional well-being. This poses three major challenges to an evangelizing Church: to affirm oneself within it, to adapt to contemporary culture without prostituting oneself ; to respond to the spiritual thirst of the postmodern self, whereby religion is basically understood as spirituality; to generate identity and belonging in in individualistic and liquid society. For each of these issues, we offer specific pastoral ways to move forward, based on fidelity to Christian doctrine.
