La acción de Dios en el mundo

Abstract

Comprender la acción de Dios en el mundo es central para la reflexión teológica. En una intelección del mundo como creación, nacida de una cosmovisión religiosa, la afirmación de que Dios actúa es evidente y no necesita prácticamente ninguna justificación. Sin embargo, la comprensión científica de la realidad, que todo lo determina, ha transformado esta simple y central afirmación de la fe y de la teología cristiana en una cuestión disputada. Dentro del horizonte religioso es habitual afirmar que Dios ha actuado y actúa en el mundo. Esta afirmación es relativamente sencilla y fácil de comprender. En el mundo secular, marcado por la mentalidad científico-técnica, esta afirmación base de la teología cristiana se convierte en enormemente problemática. Si bien para el hombre de hoy puede ser fácilmente comprensible la acción de un Dios creador en el origen del mundo, no lo son sus acciones especiales interviniendo en el curso de la historia, como por ejemplo la encarnación, la resurrección, los milagros, la providencia, o la posible respuesta divina a la oración de petición. El actual diálogo entre ciencia y teología se presenta aquí en uno de sus lugares cruciales.

Understanding the action of God in the world is central to theological reflection. In an intellection of the world as a creation, born of a religious worldview, the affirmation that God acts is evident and does not need practically any justification. However, the scientific understanding of reality, which determines everything, has transformed this simple and central affirmation of Christian faith and theology into a disputed question. Within the religious horizon it is usual to affirm that God has acted and acts in the world. This statement is relatively simple and easy to understand. In the secular world, marked by the scientific-technical mentality, this basic affirmation of Christian theology becomes enormously problematic. While the action of a creator God at the origin of the world can be easily understood by today's man, his special actions are not intervening in the course of history, such as the incarnation, the resurrection, the miracles, the providence, or the possible divine response to the petition prayer. The current dialogue between science and theology is presented here in one of its crucial places.
