Abstract

En un mundo como el nuestro, donde la especialización parece la norma irrevocable que ha de regir la actividad investigadora, la obra de Athanasius Kircher, SJ (1602-1680) subraya la importancia de la búsqueda de lo universal. Kircher merece que lo califiquemos como el último de los sabios universales . La obra Athanasius (2016) entona, inspirada en el sabio alemán, un canto al deseo humano de aprender y a la necesidad que tenemos de cuestionar constantemente las ideas asimiladas. Propone una búsqueda que haga justicia a la etimología de la palabra escéptico , término que no se refiere al descreído de todo, sino al que inicia una búsqueda incesante.
