El español en Filipinas: Lingüística, Iglesia y Gobierno

Abstract

La presencia española en Filipinas tuvo un gran impacto cultural para la sociedad filipina que no solo recibió un intercambio de bienes y servicios sino también la lengua de España y que convive en el país dejando vestigios hasta hoy. El español en Filipinas sufre momentos de declive pero también vive una época dorada o de apogeo que se verá reflejada en la sociedad, la convivencia del español con el tagalo hace que sea muy interesante analizar los restos del español que quedan en la lengua de Filipinas. Resulta importante delimitar lo que supuso la influencia del español en el tagalo así como analizar el papel de la Iglesia y el Gobierno en lo relativo a la cuestión del español en Filipinas.

The Spanish presence in the Philippines had a great cultural impact on Filipino society which not only received an exchange of goods and services but also Spanish that left traces of it to this day. Spanish in the Philippines experienced moments of decline but also lived an apogee that will be reflected in society. The coexistence of Spanish with Tagalog makes it very interesting to analyze the remnants of Spanish that stay in the language of the Philippines. It is important to define what the influence of Spanish was on Tagalog as well as to analyze the role of the Church and the Government regarding the issue of Spanish in the Philippines.
