Pensar ética e humanamente a eutanasia

Abstract

La muerte es uno de los últimos confines del saber que el hombre no domina y, además, debe resignarse a reconocer que nunca podrá dominar. En nuestra sociedad, la vida es el gran valor que hay que salvaguardar, pero no cualquier vida, sino la buena vida, la vida joven sana, bella, productiva, creativa… La cuestión de la eutanasia ha llegado inevitablemente a nuestro mundo desde hace unas décadas como fruta madurada por nuestra cultura. Para poder pensar a fondo una cuestión tan compleja -de vida o muerte, literalmente- es necesario que diferenciemos con claridad los distintos planos que se ponen en cuestión en la reflexión: el deseo humano, el derecho civil y la moralidad. De ahí el análisis que haremos en estas páginas, vertebradas desde tres preguntas fundamentales: ¿es deseable la eutanasia? Si así lo fuera, ¿es entonces justa? Y si es deseable y justa, ¿por qué no ha de ser éticamente buena?

Death is one of the last confines of knowing that man does not dominate and, moreover, he must resign himself to recognizing that he can never dominate. In our society, life is the great value that must be safeguarded, but not just any life, but the good life, healthy, beautiful, productive, creative young life ... The question of euthanasia has inevitably come to our world as fruit matured by our culture. In order to think in depth about such a complex question - literally it is matter of life and death - it is necessary that we clearly differentiate the different planes that are put into question in the reflection: human desire, civil law and morality. Hence the analysis that we will make in these pages, based on three fundamental questions: is euthanasia desirable? If so, is it fair then? And if it is desirable and fair, why should it not be ethically good?
