Los juicios de Núremberg: análisis de los testimonios de los intérpretes

Abstract

Este trabajo ha intentado indagar acerca del papel desempeñado por el intérprete en los Juicios de Núremberg, pero bajo el prisma del factor humano de estos profesionales. Esta tarea no ha sido sencilla, no solo por el aspecto a estudiar, sino por la escasa documentación existente. Se trata del análisis de factores influyentes en su labor, condiciones de trabajo, la gran carga emocional de los juicios, etc. A partir de un breve recorrido por las vidas de los intérpretes, veremos qué papel jugaron las emociones en ellos, si dichas emociones afectaron al resultado de su trabajo y, si fue así, de qué manera. Se pondrá de manifiesto el nivel de profesionalidad que demostraron, teniendo siempre presentes las circunstancias de cada uno y los hechos enjuiciados, sin olvidar el posicionamiento que adoptaron algunos de los acusados sobre la labor de los intérpretes como mecanismo de defensa de sus delitos.

This study has attempted to investigate the role played by interpreters at the Nuremberg Trials, but through the prism of the human factor of these professionals. This has not been an easy task, not only because of the aspect to be studied, but also because of the scant documentation available. It involved analysing the factors that influenced their work, their working conditions, the great emotional burden of the trials, etc. A brief look at the interpreters' lives will show us what role emotions played in their work, whether these emotions affected the outcome of their work and, if so, in what way. The level of professionalism they demonstrated will be highlighted, always bearing in mind the circumstances of each one and the facts of the case, without forgetting the position adopted by some of the defendants regarding the work of interpreters as a defense mechanism for their crimes.
