Análisis traductológico y sociocultural de la serie: The Office

Abstract

El presente trabajo de fin de grado pretende analizar algunos de los aspectos más complicados de la traducción audiovisual de la serie The Office, y el traslado de su humor de la cultura inglesa a la española. Asimismo, se pretende poner en cuestión el éxito de la serie en la actualidad y la posible ofensa que pudiera llegar a generarse por el tratamiento de temas polémicos en la sociedad actual como trama y objeto de burla, entre ellos: el machismo, la homofobia, la misoginia y el racismo. Dicha cuestión se abordará desde un punto de vista crítico, que reconoce el auge del consumo de producción audiovisual americana en España desde años atrás hasta el día de hoy por motivos como el de la creación de plataformas que ofrecen contenido audiovisual en un formato accesible e inmediato.

This project aims to analyse some of the most complicated aspects of the audio-visual translation of the TV series The Office, and the transfer of its humour from English to Spanish culture. It also aims to question the success of the series today and the possible offence that could be generated by the treatment of controversial issues in today's society as a plot and object of ridicule, among them: sexism, homophobia, misogyny, and racism. This issue will be approached from a critical point of view, which recognises the rise in the consumption of American audio-visual production in Spain from years ago to the present day for reasons such as the creation of platforms that offer audio-visual content in an accessible and immediate format.
