El maestro Eckhart se refiere a Orígenes como "un gran maestro", y se apoya en él. Una forma de reconocer lo que ha retenido de su pensamiento es considerar las ocasiones en las que atribuye explícitamente una afirmación a Orígenes. De todas las obras del alejandrino, la única que estamos seguros de que leyó directamente son las Homilías sobre el Génesis, que ofrecen importantes nociones de Orígenes sobre la creación en el Verbo o Sabiduría, "esplendor de la luz eterna" (Hebreos 1:3) y la noción de imagen de Dios en el hombre, con las metáforas del pozo de agua viva, las semillas del Verbo. Master Eckhart refers to Origen as "a great teacher", and relies on him. One way to recognize what he has retained from his thought is to consider the occasions when he explicitly attributes a statement to Origen. Of all the works of the Alexandrian, the only one we are sure he read directly are the Homilies on Genesis, which offer important notions of Origen on creation in the Word or Wisdom, "splendor of eternal light" (Hebrews 1:3) and the notion of the image of God in man, with the metaphors of the well of living water, the seeds of the Word. Eckhart extracts and condenses the most significant part of Origen's Genesis Homilies, using his allegorical exegesis and metaphors (the divine seed in us, the well and spring of living water), as well as his profound reflections on the image of the inalienable God in man, but he moves from an ethical orientation to an ontological one, but also goes beyond Origen.
