Las epidemias y enfermedades, siempre han estado presentes

Abstract

En este artículo se hace un recorrido por las diversas circunstancias en las que la Orden Hospitalaria ha estado participando con sus actuaciones a lo largo de la historia, limitándose a España casi en exclusiva. No sin antes ofrecer una panorámica de las diversas epidemias o virus, fiebres o pestes que han aparecido en la humanidad. Se señalan algunos de los hitos o circunstancias que más han destacado. Y se hace una reflexión más extensa en torno a la pandemia Covid-19. Las recientes circunstancias pueden estar sirviendo para repasar las trayectorias de diferentes epidemias. Y nos pueden hacer pensar y concluir que forman parte del proceso evolutivo, humano y universal, y así habremos de aceptarlo, sin caer en el pesimismo, sino siendo realistas y prácticos, sobreviviendo que es nuestro deber.

This article takes a journey over the various circumstances in which the Hospitaller Order has been participating with its actions throughout the history, limiting itself almost exclusively to Spain. Not without first offering an overview of the various epidemics or viruses, fevers or plagues that have appeared in humanity. Some of the milestones or circumstances that have stood out the most are pointed out. And there is a more extensive reflection on the Covid-19 pandemic. Recent circumstances may be serving to review the trajectories of different epidemics. And they can make us think and conclude that they are part of the evolutionary process, human and universal , and thus we will have to accept it , without falling into pessimism , but being realistic and practical , surviving that is our duty.
