Redes sociales humanas en tiempos de COVID-19. El caso de los guerrerenses en Chicago, Illinois

Abstract

El presente trabajo presenta y analiza las redes sociales de los migrantes como resultado del tejido social que crean estos colectivos en los espacios transnacionales como las grandes ciudades, que tienden a fortalecerse y madurar debido a diversos sucesos socioculturales. Los guerrerenses en la ciudad de Chicago, Illinois, y su periferia han mostrado poseer una amplia red de apoyo con la participación de diversos actores sociales pues han logrado una cobertura más o menos exitosa tanto para aquéllos en estatus regular como irregular. Instituciones gubernamentales, empresas, clubes y sociedad civil han creado una red que ha logrado sobrepasar la frontera y roto paradigmas entre México y Estados Unidos pese a los tiempos difíciles tal como el que experimentamos actualmente con el COVID-19.

The present work features and analyzes the social networks of migrants as a result of the outcome of the social system context that gets created by those groups in transnational spaces such as large cities which tend to be reinforced due to different socio-cultural events or issues. The guerrerenses in Chicago and its suburban areas have shown to have a wide support network due to the activity of different actors as it has manage to provide coverage more or less successfully to both regular and irregular migrants. Government institutions, companies, clubs and civil society have created a network that has overstepped the borders and has broken paradigms related to both countries even through challenging times such as the one we are experiencing right now due to COVID-19.
