Perfil cognitivo (WISC-V) en niños y adolescentes con dificultades específicas del aprendizaje (DEA)

Abstract

.El texto aborda el creciente interés en los niños con Dificultades Específicas del Aprendizaje (DEA), destacando su impacto en el rendimiento académico y desarrollo emocional. Se utiliza el término DEA para referirse a problemas como los Retrasos de la Lectoescritura y Trastornos Específicos del Aprendizaje, los cuales se caracterizan por dificultades en lectura, escritura y cálculo. Estas dificultades no se deben a problemas de capacidad intelectual, sensoriales o psicosociales.

Se discute la importancia de las Escalas de Inteligencia de Wechsler, particularmente la WISC-V, para evaluar el perfil cognitivo de niños con DEA. Se plantea la necesidad de estudios en poblaciones específicas, como la española, para comprender mejor estas dificultades y adaptar intervenciones más efectivas. El estudio presentado busca analizar el perfil cognitivo de 154 niños españoles con DEA utilizando la adaptación española de la WISC-V. Sus objetivos incluyen describir y comparar el perfil neuropsicológico y las subpruebas de la escala, así como identificar diferencias significativas entre esta muestra y la población de referencia.

The text addresses the growing interest in children with Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD), highlighting their impact on academic performance and emotional development. The term SLD is used to refer to issues such as Delayed Literacy and Specific Learning Disorders, characterized by difficulties in reading, writing, and arithmetic. These difficulties are not due to intellectual, sensory, or psychosocial problems.

The importance of Wechsler Intelligence Scales, particularly the WISC-V, for assessing the cognitive profile of children with SLD is discussed. The need for studies in specific populations, such as the Spanish, to better understand these difficulties and adapt more effective interventions is emphasized. The presented study aims to analyze the cognitive profile of 154 Spanish children with SLD using the Spanish adaptation of the WISC-V. Its objectives include describing and comparing the neuropsychological profile and subtests of the scale, as well as identifying significant differences between this sample and the reference population.
