El primogénito es el mediador

Abstract

La mediación de Cristo es uno de los puntos centrales de la fe cristiana. En la reflexión teológica la mediación de Cristo se articula ordinariamente desde conceptos de cuño ontológico. Al ser verdadero Dios y verdadero hombre Jesucristo realiza la mediación en su perfección. Aquí se estudia la categoría de primogénito en todo su registro neotestamentario referido a Cristo. Del análisis de los textos se sigue que, como primogénito de la creación (Col 1,15), primogénito de los muertos (Col 1,18; Ap 1,15; Heb 1,6) y primogénito de muchos hermanos (Rom 8,29), Jesucristo es el mediador. La categoría de primogénito expresa, simultáneamente, el ser y la obra de Jesucristo.

The mediation of Christ is one of the central points of the Christian faith. In theological reflection, Christ's mediation is ordinarily articulated through ontological concepts. Being true God and true man, Jesus Christ accomplishes mediation in perfection. This study explores the category of "primogeniture" in its entire New Testament context as it relates to Christ. From the analysis of the texts, it follows that as the firstborn of creation (Col 1:15), the firstborn from the dead (Col 1:18; Rev 1:15; Heb 1:6), and the firstborn among many brothers (Rom 8:29), Jesus Christ is the mediator. The category of "primogeniture" simultaneously expresses both the essence and the work of Jesus Christ.
