La Caballería andante en bicicleta: heroísmo en Stranger Things

Abstract

La serie Stranger Things, de los hermanos Duffer (2016-…) no recoge de manera evidente la figura del caballero andante, pero sí aparecen indicios de los rasgos característicos de la caballería, como una manifestación del camino del héroe. Además, la serie también compendia elementos propios del género como el enfrentamiento contra el terror, la búsqueda heroica y la dama sobrenatural. Los jóvenes protagonistas se erigen en una suerte de caballeros en bicicleta, ayudados por otros jóvenes y por adultos. Esta recepción del héroe y del caballero en un producto audiovisual de la cultura popular como Stranger Things da cuenta de la vigencia de estos mitos en la actualidad

The series Stranger Things, by the Duffer brothers (2016-...), does not clearly include the figure of the knight-errant, but the characteristic features of chivalry do appear, as a manifestation of the hero’s journey. In addition, the series also epitomizes elements of the genre such as the fight against terror, the heroic quest and the supernatural lady. The young protagonists become kinds of knights on bicycles, helped by other youngsters and adults. This reception of the hero and the knight in an audiovisual product of popular culture such as Stranger Things shows the continuity of these myths nowadays.
