Resumen : .
This document presents the outcomes of an interdisciplinary research project conducted in Spain from 2022 to 2023, led by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Spanish National Research Council’s Institute of Philosophy, in collaboration with other academic institutions and private entities. Through the collective efforts of project members, fieldwork, and workshops, we have identified and addressed various ethical dilemmas associated with rewilding in the Anthropocene era. Drawing from our insights, we have crafted a concise theoretical guide to recognize and address potential ethical conflicts in rewilding initiatives. Structured into three thematic sections, the document first delves into the conceptual framework and methodology of rewilding, elucidating its diverse meanings and applications. The subsequent section expands the moral perspective to encompass the impact of rewilding on non-human entities, advocating for a shift away from anthropocentrism towards ecocentrism while maintaining ethical consideration for individual lives. Finally, the document examines human involvement in rewilding, emphasizing the importance of addressing social inequalities to avoid colonialist practices and biased decision-making. Intended for a broad audience including enthusiasts, students, scholars, researchers, conservation biologists, and rewilding practitioners, this interdisciplinary toolkit aims to be concise and accessible while retaining technical rigor. Despite its theoretical nature, the document serves as a practical tool for identifying and reflecting on the challenges encountered in rewilding initiatives, ultimately striving for more ethical and inclusive practices.
