Reflexiones teológicas ante el peligro de polarización en la Iglesia

Abstract

En el año 1950, el dominico francés, Ives Congar, publicó Verdadera y falsa reforma en la Iglesia (Sígueme, 2014). En la parte central de esta erudita y voluminosa obra, Congar presenta y desarrolla las que para él deben ser las condiciones básicas de una reforma sin cisma, es decir, de una verdadera reforma de la Iglesia en la Iglesia. La pregunta que quisiera plantear en este trabajo reza como sigue: ¿se ajusta la actual reforma de Francisco a los cuatro criterios básicos que señala Congar en su trabajo? Dicho de otro modo: ¿es la de Francisco una verdadera reforma de la Iglesia en la Iglesia o estamos ante una falsa reforma del papa contra la Iglesia? A esta pregunta central se suman estas otras: ¿es lo mismo una polaridad que la polarización? ¿Cómo ha de actuar la Iglesia ante los crecientes movimientos de polarización que existen en la sociedad? ¿Cómo se ha de posicionar, igualmente, frente a la polarizaciones que también se advierten en su seno? El presente trabajo da pautas de reflexión para responder razonadamente a todas y cada una de estas cuestiones

In 1950, the French Dominican Yves Congar published True and False Reform in the Church (Sígueme, 2014). In the central part of this scholarly and voluminous work, Congar presents and develops what he considers the basic conditions for a reform without schism—that is, a true reform of the Church within the Church. The question I wish to pose in this work is as follows: Does Francis's current reform align with the four basic criteria outlined by Congar in his work? In other words, is Francis’s reform a true reform of the Church within the Church, or are we facing a false reform of the pope against the Church? This central question is accompanied by others: Is polarity the same as polarization? How should the Church act in the face of growing movements of polarization in society? How should it position itself regarding the polarizations that are also evident within its own ranks? This work offers guidelines for reflecting and responding thoughtfully to each of these questions.
