La dimensión reparadora en la espiritualidad de Teresa de Lisieux: contexto, raíces, vivencia, en Una carrera de gigante.

Abstract

Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús ha conocido y vivido la espiritualidad de carácter reparacionista, con las notas victimales y de devoción a la eucaristía y el Sagrado Corazón de Jesús propias de su tiempo. Una espiritualidad que parte de la acción de gracias por la salvación y quiere ser una respuesta al mal. En el Carmelo, dicha espiritualidad encuentra sus raíces en la propuesta de Bérulle, caracterizada por la adoración, pero en la que no faltan elementos de reparación a las ofensas recibidas por un Dios riguroso. Figuras como Charles de Condren o Jean Eudes contribuirán a configurar esta espiritualidad en torno a algunas notas fundamentales: adoración, honor, servidumbre, sacrificio y satisfacción de los pecados, con especial acento en la adoración eucarística y la devoción al Corazón de Jesús con tintes reparadores. En el siglo xix, el contexto histórico de la espiritualidad reparadora, que Teresa recibe y conoce en el seno de su familia, es el del enfrentamiento entre el catolicismo tradicional francés y las corrientes liberales y laicistas. Particular importancia tendrá la devoción a la Santa Faz. Sin faltar en los escritos de santa Teresa de Lisieux referencias reparacionistas, la revelación por ella recibida de la misericordia de Dios hace que el amor sustituya cualquier sombra de temor y la justicia quede ordenada, precisamente, según la misericordia.

It is a spirituality that has its origin in thanksgiving for salvation and desires to be a response to evil. In the 19th century the historical context of reparatory spirituality, which Thérèse receives and knows within her family, is that of the confrontation between traditional French Catholicism and theli beral and secular currents of the day. Devotion to the Holy Face is particularly important. Though reparative references are present in the writings of Saint Therese of Lisieux, the revelation she received of God’s mercy causes love to replace any shadow of fear, thereby ordering justice to mercy.
