Abstract

El artículo analiza el judaísmo del tiempo de Pablo, destacando su pluralidad y complejidad. A pesar de ser reconocido como cristiano por la tradición, históricamente Pablo nunca dejó de ser judío, sino que vivió una transformación interna a raíz del impacto de la muerte de Jesús de Nazaret. Se describen los contextos sociales, culturales y religiosos que moldearon su pensamiento: el judaísmo helenizado, el fanatismo de los macabeos, la diáspora y el papel de los fariseos. Pablo aparece como un judío celoso, inicialmente violento en defensa de las tradiciones, pero que tras una experiencia reveladora reinterpreta su fe desde la cruz de Cristo. Este cambio no lo separa del judaísmo, sino que lo sitúa en un lugar marginal dentro de su pluralidad. El texto muestra cómo Pablo simboliza el paso de una identidad excluyente a una inclusiva, centrada en la gracia, y representa el puente entre judaísmo y cristianismo naciente.

The article explores the Judaism of Paul's time, emphasizing its diversity and complexity. Although Christian tradition identifies him as a Christian, historically Paul remained a Jew who underwent an internal transformation following the impact of Jesus of Nazareth's death. It details the social, cultural, and religious contexts shaping his thought: Hellenized Judaism, the zealotry of the Maccabees, diaspora life, and the role of the Pharisees. Paul is portrayed as a zealous Jew, initially violent in defending traditions, but after a revelatory experience, he reinterprets his faith through the lens of Christ’s crucifixion. This transformation does not remove him from Judaism but places him in a marginal position within its diversity. The text shows how Paul embodies the shift from an exclusive identity to an inclusive one rooted in grace, acting as a bridge between Judaism and emerging Christianity.
