Intervención educativa en mujeres gestantes con consumo problemático de drogas

Abstract

La utilización de drogas ilícitas por parte de una mujer embarazada, conlleva una situación de alto riesgo para la madre, el feto y luego el recién nacido. Las drogas consumidas por una mujer gestante, puede repercutir en el desarrollo fetal, en la adaptación del recién nacido a la vida extrauterina, manifestando el síndrome de abstinencia y provocar alteraciones en el crecimiento normal del niño. En este proyecto educativo se abordan aspectos generales sobre los factores que influyen sobre la vida de la gestante, del feto y del recién nacido, relacionados con la exposición a drogas de abuso durante el embarazo y está dirigido a mujeres embarazadas con problemas de consumo de sustancias de abuso, que necesitan un apoyo y ayuda para afrontar el proceso terapéutico, y derivado de ello lograr una mejor calidad de vida para sus hijos.

Illicit drug use by pregnant women creates a highrisk situation for the mother, the fetus and, later on, for the newborn. The use of drugs during pregnancy can negatively affect fetal growth as well as the adaptation of the newborn to the environment “out of uterus”. Newborns may suffer from withdrawal symptoms and may experience growth abnormalities. This educational project contains a general description of the deleterious effects caused by illicit drug use during pregnancy on the pregnant woman, on the fetus, and on the newborn. This article is directed to pregnant women who struggle with illicit drug use. They need the support and assistance that will help them navigate a treatment plan that will improve their quality of life and their children’s.
