Proyecto educativo con familiares de pacientes paliativos/terminales oncológicos en el domicilio

Abstract

Los cuidados paliativos constituyen una herramienta fundamental en el cuidado del paciente terminal oncológico y son un verdadero sistema de apoyo tanto para el paciente como para su familia. En este proyecto educativo se presenta un taller dedicado a los cuidadores de este tipo de pacientes en el domicilio. El objetivo general se centra en aumentar el bienestar del paciente terminal y su cuidador a través de la educación a este último. El taller constará de un total de cuatro sesiones realizadas en el aula de habilidades del Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón (HGUGM); en tres de estas sesiones el cuidador informal conocerá y aprenderá a manejar correctamente los síntomas más comunes de su familiar; en la cuarta se trabajará su sobrecarga, su expresión de sentimientos y se le proporcionará información sobre los recursos a los que puede acudir para buscar ayuda.

Palliative care is an essential tool in the care of the terminal cancer patient and it is a real support system for the patient and his family. In this educational project a workshop for caregivers of these patients is presented. The aim of it is to enhance the quality of life of the terminal patient, increasing the knowledge and the skills of the caregiver, thus reducing their burden. The workshop will consist of a total of four sessions performed in the skills training room of the Universitary Hospital Gregorio Marañón. In three of these sessions the informal caregiver will know and will learn to properly handle the most common symptoms of his relative. In the fourth we will work with their burden, the expression of the feelings and we will provide information about available resources to look for help.
