The project is focused on the creation of an intelligent microgrid which maximizes the use of renewable non-manageable sources already installed with the biomass manageable sources in the city of Ávila. The decentralization of the Spanish grid will reduce the network losses as generation locations are close to consumption locations. With these technologies, the electric demand in the city of Ávila must be satisfied, which maximum is situated in 42 MWh, number from which the design of the reserve system will be made. The waste valuation process selected for the micorgrid will be the plasma waste gasification. At the exit of the plasma reactor it is obtained a gas with a high concentration of hydrogen. The hydrogen generated in the plant will be stored and afterwards used in fuel cells for energy generation, giving to the grid a reserve energy system that reacts immediately. In the worst case, the 42 MWh will be given by the waste gasification plant, satisfying the 75% of the demand, being the remaining 25% given by the reserves of energy obtained in days of renewable generation. After studying all the possibilities, the microgrid will be considered energetically viable. To prove the economic viability of the microgrid an economic study is needed. It is obtained a medium generation cost of 0,08025 €/KWh. The investor will obtain a profitability of 44% of the investment realized after 25 years running the microgrid technologies. Therefore, shown the economic and energetic viability of this project, it would be possible to change the actual situation of the Spanish grid turning it to the decentralization.en-GB
