Acompañamiento en el duelo de la familia con un hijo diagnosticado con cáncer

Abstract

El diagnóstico o muerte de un hijo/a como consecuencia de una patología oncológica, supone una de las vivencias más traumatizantes y difíciles de superar por parte de los padres y familiares. Esta situación va a afectar a cada miembro de la familia, tanto a nivel individual y como a nivel grupal. Como consecuencia aparecerá el proceso de duelo, así como la necesidad de integrar la pérdida, ya sea ésta producida por la alteración de salud de su hijo/a o bien debida a la muerte que esta patología y sus complicaciones ocasiona. Dentro de un equipo multidisciplinar, enfermería tiene un rol imprescindible a la hora de proporcionar cuidado, ayuda, apoyo y acompañamiento a la familia, a fin de paliar el dolor y sufrimiento durante el proceso del duelo. El objetivo de este proyecto educativo es proporcionar al equipo de enfermería una base teórica sobre el duelo y sus fases, para que después se pueda llevar a cabo de forma óptima, un acompañamiento durante todo el proceso.

The diagnosis or loss of a child do to cancer is one of the most traumatizing and difficult experiences to overcome as parents and other family members. This situation is going to affect every member as individuals and it's also going to affect the family as a whole. As a result, it willbring up the process of grief and the need of accepting the loss of health of the child or the loss because of death do to this illness or it's complications. Working as a part of a multidisciplinary team, nurses have a key role when it comes to caring, helping, supporting and walking through the pain and suffering the family feels during the process of grief. The objective of this project is to form nurses with a basic knowledge of the different stages of grief so that they may be able to act in the best way possible to cope with the grieving families and hopefully guide and reduce the pain and sorrow they experience throughout the whole process.
