Peer to Peer Carsharing

Abstract

La economía compartida es una nueva tendencia la cual esta surgiendo con fuerza en los últimos años. Surgió primero en el mercado de la vivienda donde la gente alquila los cuartos que no utiliza de su casa o la casa entera como forma de generar ingresos extra. Ahora hace un par de años empezó a surgir en el alquiler de los vehículos particulares. El P2P car-sharing es algo que existe ya en muchos de los países más desarrollados y ayuda a la economía sostenible ya que reduce el número de coches que hay en las ciudades más grandes. Los beneficios del P2P car-sharing son muchos y las desventajas son pocas, pero haciendo una balanza se ve que beneficia no solo a los que lo utilicen, pero, sino que también a toda la ciudad. En este trabajo se hará un análisis del entorno general de las empresas de alquiler de vehículos, los cuales son la competencia del P2P car-sharing, y de las ciudades en la cual existe ya esta nueva tendencia y saber porque triunfa en estas ciudades. Una vez realizado este análisis se procederá con el cuestionario lanzado en la ciudad de Madrid a más de 100 personas donde se analizarán los datos y se podrá llegar a algunas conclusiones. Por último, se llegará a la conclusión principal: si el P2P car-sharing es viable en la ciudad de Madrid o no y las razones por la cual se ve viable o no. También se harán unas recomendaciones para que las empresas de P2P car-sharing sepan que hacer en un futuro.

The shared economy is a new trend which has appeared very strongly in the last few years. We first saw how it appeared through the real estate market were people started renting free rooms in their houses or their entire house as another way of obtaining an extra income. Now a few years ago we started to see the renting of private vehicles. The P2P car-sharing is something which already exists in many developed countries and it helps to improve the economic sustainability as it reduces the number of vehicles that there is in the biggest cities. The are many benefits related to the P2P car-sharing and the number of disadvantages is very small, and when we compare them, we see that these advantages benefit not only the people who uses the P2P vehicles but to the whole city. In this report we will start by making a general analysis of the actual situation of the car rental businesses, which are the direct competence of the P2P car-sharing, and the cities were this new trend already exists to know how it succeeded in theses cities. Once we have completed this analysis, we will proceed to launch a questionnaire to people who live in the city of Madrid were more than 100 responses will be analysed and we will be able to obtain certain conclusions. Finally, we will reach a conclusion: whether P2P carsharing will succeed in the city of Madrid or not and what are the reasons for its success or for its failure. We will also make some future recommendations for the P2P car-sharing businesses know what they should do in the future.
