La importancia de un buen acompañamiento de enfermería en pacientes oncológicos y sus familas

Abstract

Introducción: Cuando diagnostican a una persona con cáncer, su mundo, tal y como lo conoce, cambia radicalmente, y en muchas ocasiones, sin tiempo para procesar la noticia. Esto produce un gran desconcierto en el paciente y su familia, y un aun mayor temor ante el porvenir de sus vidas a partir de ese momento. Objetivos: Es fundamental que estos pacientes tengan a un profesional que los acompañe durante este complicado viaje, que los conozca, que creen un vínculo profesional que beneficie al paciente y a su familia y que lo anime a seguir a delante. Este profesional va a ser la enfermera de atención primaria ya que, es la más accesible para el paciente y es la que van a poder tener un seguimiento completo y exhaustivo de estos pacientes y sus familias. Por eso el objetivo de este trabajo va a ser concienciar a estos profesionales de enfermería de la importancia de un buen acompañamiento en pacientes oncológicos y sus familias. Metodología: Este proyecto educativo irá dirigido a la realización de un taller para enfermeras de atención primaria en el centro de salud de Pinto. Se espera que este taller conciencie a estas enfermeras de que los pacientes oncológicos son personas en un momento de fragilidad y que necesitan de la presencia de una figura de apoyo para ayudarles a sobrellevar la enfermedad y aprender a vivir con ella. Además, se incrementará la calidad de los cuidados y evitará que las enfer-meras no sepan tratar con estos pacientes.

Introduction: When a person is diagnosed with cancer their world, as they know it, changes radically, and in many cases, without time to process the news. This produces a great confu-sion in the patient and his family, and an even greater fear of the future of their lives from that moment. Objectives: It´s essential that these patients have a health professional to tailor them in this journey of uncertainty, someone who knows them, someone who can create a bond that benefit them both and encourage them to keep going forward. This professional will be the primary health care nurse because they are easy to reach by the patient and also be-cause they will be able to have a complete and exhaustive follow-up of these patients and their families. That´s why the objective of this educational project will be to raise awareness these nursing professionals the importance of a good counseling in oncology patients and their fam-ilies. Method: The purpose of this educational project will be to hold a workshop for nurses of primary attention at the Pinto health center. It is hoped that this workshop will make these nurses aware that cancer patients are people in a time of fragility and that they need the pres-ence of a support figure to help them cope with this illness and learn to live with it. In addition, the quality of care will be increased and it will help avoiding nurses not being able to deal with these patients.
