Impacto económico del VAR (Video Assistant Referee) en el mundo del fútbol

Abstract

La tecnología y la digitalización están sufriendo un gran auge en la sociedad actual, lo que ha permitido la implementación de nuevas oportunidades de negocio en el mundo del fútbol. El presente trabajo de investigación trata sobre el impacto económico que tiene el Video Assistant Referee (VAR) en este deporte. Para ello, comenzamos este trabajo analizando los motivos que llevaron a introducir esta tecnología, y explicando su funcionamiento. Posteriormente, estudiamos el impacto deportivo del VAR en tres aspectos determinantes de este deporte, y, por último, estimamos el coste económico de su implementación.

Technology and digitalization are undergoing a great boom in today's society, which has allowed the implementation of new business opportunities in the world of football. This research paper deals with the economic impact of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in this sport. Therefore, we have decided to begin the paper by analysing the reasons that lead to this technological introduction and explaining how it works. Subsequently, we have studied the sporting impact of VAR in three key sectors of the game, and lastly, we estimated the economic cost of its implementation.
