¿CÓMO SE DIFERENCIAN LAS INTERPRETACIONES SIMULTÁNEAS DE LAS TRADUCCIONES EN DISCURSOS? Comparación de la traducción e interpretación EN-ES de los discursos pronunciados por el presidente Donald Trump en el Debate General de la Asamblea General en los periodos de sesiones 72ºy 73º.

Abstract

En este trabajo se analizarán las diferencias entre las interpretaciones simultáneas y las traducciones al español de las actas literales de dos discursos en inglés. En concreto, se intentará responder a las siguientes preguntas: ¿Existen diferencias entre la interpretación EN>ES y la traducción de las actas literales de los dos discursos estudiados? Si existen, ¿cuáles son? ¿se pueden relacionar con dificultades específicas del discurso u otras dificultades? Los discursos serán los pronunciados por el presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, en el Debate General de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas en los periodos de sesiones 72º y 73º. El propósito de este trabajo es, por un lado, analizar las diferencias entre las interpretaciones y las traducciones de un mismo discurso y en un mismo contexto, el de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas, uno de los mayores empleadores de intérpretes; y, por otro lado, estudiar las dificultades específicas de las interpretaciones simultáneas, en comparación con las traducciones.

This paper will analyze the differences between Spanish simultaneous interpretations and translations of the verbatim records of two speeches in English. In particular, we will try to answer the following questions: Are there differences between the EN>ES interpretation and the translation of the verbatim records of the two speeches studied? If so, what are they and can they be associated with specific discourse difficulties or other difficulties? The speeches will be those given by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, at the General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly at its 72nd and 73rd sessions. The purpose of this paper is, on the one hand, to analyse the differences between interpretations and translations of the same speech and in the same context, that of the United Nations, one of the largest employers of interpreters; and, on the other hand, to study the specific difficulties of simultaneous interpretations, as compared to translations.
