Análisis del impacto de la pandemia COVID-19 en los fondos de inversión americanos de renta variable
Abstract
El año 2020 se ha caracterizado por ser un año atípico, donde el principal protagonista ha sido el COVID-19. La irrupción de la pandemia COVID-19 ha supuesto un cambio radical en la sociedad, teniendo un impacto significativo tanto a nivel económico, social y político, como en los mercados financieros y las tendencias de inversión. El presente trabajo analiza el impacto que ha tenido la pandemia en los fondos de inversión de renta variable americanos. Para ello, se lleva a cabo una selección de los fondos más y menos rentables durante el año 2020. Posteriormente, el trabajo estudia la composición sectorial de las carteras de inversión y los flujos de capital netos experimentados por los fondos seleccionados durante el periodo pandémico. Por último, se examina cómo han influido las exposiciones sectoriales de las carteras de inversión, las variaciones realizadas en dicho periodo y los flujos de capital netos en la rentabilidad obtenida, y si han sido un factor determinante en la misma. The year 2020 has been an atypical year, in which COVID-19 has taken center stage. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought out a radical change in society, with a significant impact on the economic, social and political spheres, as well as on financial markets and investment trends. The paper analyses the impact of the pandemic on US equity mutual funds. To do so, a selection of the best and worst performing funds during 2020 is carried out. Subsequently, the paper examines the sector composition of the investment portfolios and the net capital flows experienced by the funds during the pandemic period. Lastly, the paper analyses how the sectoral exposures of the investment portfolios, the variations completed, and the net capital flows have affected the performance of the portfolios, and whether they have been a determining factor in the performance achieved.
