dc.description.abstract | A year ago in 2019, the price of oil in the market was about 60 dollars per barrel. This year, the price per barrel reached -37 dollars — negative territory — having plummeted 40 dollars an hour. Only two months later, crude oil prices reached positive figures again, having recovered a 91% in the case of the American index West Texas Intermediate (WTI) and an 81% in the case of the European benchmark, the Brent. In short, the oil market in 2020 had one of the most volatile behaviors in its history. This volatility is due to one of the events that has most marked the course of the 21st century: the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). We will use various mathematical an economical tools, such as technical and statistical analysis, to understand its behavior. | en-GB |
