Proyecto de Innovación STEM en el segundo ciclo de Educación Infantil

Abstract

¿Por qué a pesar de estudiar tantos contenidos, la sociedad española no consigue obtener buenos resultados académicos mundialmente? Esta es una de las preguntas que a diario se plantean en nuestros alrededores y que reside en las metodologías que se utilizan en los centros educativos. Con este proyecto de innovación pretendo presentar los múltiples beneficios de trabajar las competencias STEM desde el segundo ciclo de Educación Infantil (6-12 años) no solo a través de diferentes fundamentos científicos, si no con una serie de actividades que sin duda te harán cambiar la mirada de la educación.

Todo individuo debe desarrollar diferentes habilidades competenciales para poder desarrollarse integralmente como persona y poder cumplir así las necesidades que la sociedad imponga. Por esta razón, en este proyecto se da mucha importancia a las competencias STEM y a las habilidades del siglo XXI como: el pensamiento crítico y la resolución de problemas, la creatividad e innovación y la comunicación y el trabajo cooperativo.

Todo ello se puede ir viendo a lo largo de este escrito por medio de tres actividades divididas en diferentes sesiones a lo largo de los tres trimestres del curso. En ellas, se especifican los diferentes pasos a seguir en una investigación ( exploración, hacerse preguntas, experimentación y la resolución del problema sacando conclusiones) donde el objetivo principal es que los niños sean los protagonistas y descubran el aprendizaje por ellos mismos a través de sus experiencias con su entorno próximo.

What is the reason why Spanish society study so many contents but still do not get worldwide recognition for their academic results?

This is an important question asked daily by society and which answer lies in the methodologies performed at the educational centres. With this innovation project I intend to present the numerous benefits of using the STEM competences from the second cycle of Infant Education (6 to 12 years), not only by using different scientific fundamentals, but by applying activities that will, for sure, change your view on education.

Every individual has to develop different abilities and competences to be able to completely mature as a person and allow itself to comply with the necessities imposed by society. That is the reason why, in this project we place the importance on STEM competences and on the 21st century abilities, such as: critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovation and communication and cooperative work.

All of these can be seen throughout the written text by the use of three activities divided into different sessions according to the three trimesters in which the Spanish school year is divided. In them, it is specified the different steps needed to pursue an investigation (exploration, asking questions, experimentation and problem solving by drawing conclusions), where the main objective is for students to become the main characters and discover the learning process by themselves by using experiences from their immediate environment.
