La mujer proletaria en "Nana" y "La taberna" de Zola. Entre ascenso social y herencia del medio

Abstract

Émile Zola (1840-1902) nos muestra a través de las novelas L’Assommoir (1877) y Nana (1880) la realidad acerca de la condición de la mujer de clase trabajadora en la Francia del siglo XIX. Este estudio analizará, a través de contextos ideológicos e históricos, los retratos femeninos de las protagonistas de ambas novelas. Aprovechando que ambas mujeres son elementos representativos del fresco social de su época, la lavandera y la prostituta, podremos mostrar diferentes aspectos de sus vidas y la relación con sus respectivos entornos. Para ello, efectuaremos el estudio de ambos retratos a través de un análisis empírico con la ayuda de los parámetros establecidos por Sánchez-Labella: dimensión física, psicológica y social.

Émile Zola (1840–1902) shows us through the novels L'Assommoir (1877) and Nana (1880) the reality of the condition of working-class women in nineteenth-century France. This study will analyse, through ideological and historical contexts, the female portraits of the protagonists of both novels. Taking advantage of the fact that both women are representative elements of the social fresco of their time, the washerwoman and the prostitute, we will be able to show different aspects of their lives and their relationship with their respective environments. To do so, we will study both portraits through an empirical analysis with the help of the parameters established by Sánchez-Labella: physical, psychological and social dimensions.
