Abstract
This Research Project analyzes the current situation of the inflation in the United States and Europe, trying to conclude if it is possible to continue experiencing a period of high inflation during the following years, or, if this hike is just transitory and a period of low inflation would be the predominant, as it has been during the last decade.
The project studies the monetary policies of the European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve of the United States during the last two years, and the expected duration of these policies, as well as the current situation of the main commodities and other factors like supply chain disruptions that could have an effect in the inflation.
By comparing the current situation with other periods of the past, it is concluded that a period of high inflation during the following years is more probable than a low inflation scenario.
Finally, an analysis about the implications and the outcome that these environments could have in the different asset classes and in the home, economy is raised.
