La Economía Azul, una oportunidad de oro para España. Estudio de mercados, instrumentos de financiación y oportunidades de inversión en España.

Abstract

No hace especial falta recurrir a la literatura científica para darse cuenta de la necesidad de cambio en el funcionamiento del sistema económico mundial hacia modelos más sostenibles, dejando atrás el business as usual. Basta con mirar a nuestro alrededor y ver que el calentamiento global es real, el cambio climático es real, y los océanos son de los grandes afectados por su calentamiento, acidificación, contaminación plástica y la pérdida de oxígeno de sus aguas entre otras cosas. Tres cuartas partes de nuestro planeta están ocupadas por estos, contienen la mayor parte de la biosfera mundial, producen aproximadamente la mitad del oxígeno que respiramos y absorben grandes cantidades del CO2 que producimos, por lo que al igual que son los grandes afectados podrían ser a su vez nuestros principales aliados.

Bajo esta premisa, la importancia de promulgar el conocimiento de los sectores que engloba la Economía Azul y su potencial de crecimiento y rentabilidad es clave. No solo puede suponer beneficios a nivel climático, sino que el mayor desarrollo de estos también es muy interesante tras la “pausa pandémica” de los últimos años. Para conseguir una recuperación innovadora, rentable y que aporte gran valor, en especial a nivel español, el azul podría ser la respuesta.

Es por ello por lo que, el principal objetivo del presente estudio es no solo dar al lector una visión básica que le haga conocer qué se entiende por Economía Azul, sino también plasmar la relevancia y el potencial de determinados sectores, tanto tradicionales como emergentes, y la situación privilegiada que se podría considerar que tiene España para un mayor crecimiento de estos, señalando así también tendencias futuras. Tras ello, se ha querido dar un paso más allá mediante el estudio de potenciales instrumentos de financiación que podrían ser esenciales en la consecución del capital necesario, pues en numerosas ocasiones este es difícil de conseguir por la falsa creencia de falta de rentabilidad y seguridad en este tipo de inversiones. Por último, se ha querido completar el estudio señalando posibles oportunidades de inversión mostrando proyectos que ya se están desarrollando en este momento en nuestro país, de manera que idealmente pueda influenciar posibles decisiones financieras futuras al lector.

It is not particularly necessary to turn to scientific literature to realise the need for change in the running of the world economic system towards more sustainable models, leaving business as usual models behind. All we have to do is to look around us and see that global warming is real, climate change is real, and the oceans are among those most affected by its warming, acidification, plastic pollution and the loss of oxygen in their waters, among other issues. Three quarters of our planet is occupied by them, they contain most of the world's biosphere, they produce approximately half of the oxygen we breathe and absorb large quantities of the CO2 we produce, so just as they are the most affected, they could also be our main allies.

Under this premise, the importance of promoting awareness of the sectors encompassed by the Blue Economy and its potential for growth and profitability is key. Not only can it bring climate benefits, but the further development of these sectors is considered to be of great interest after the "pandemic pause" of recent years. For an innovative, profitable, and value-adding recovery, especially in Spain, blue could be the answer.

For this reason, the main objective of this study is not only to provide the reader with a basic overview of what is meant by Blue Economy, but also to show the relevance and potential of certain sectors, both traditional and emerging, and the privileged situation that Spain could be considered to have for further growth in these sectors, thus pointing out future trends. After this, the aim was to go a step further by studying potential financing instruments that could be essential in obtaining the necessary capital, as on numerous occasions this is difficult to obtain due to the false belief that there is a lack of profitability and insecurity in this type of investment. Finally, it is intended to complete the study by pointing out possible investment opportunities by showing projects that are already being developed at this moment in our country, so that ideally, they can influence possible future financial decisions of the reader.
