Análisis de la interpretación simultánea remota: Orígenes y actualidad

Abstract

La interpretación simultánea remota (ISR) irrumpió en el mercado de la interpretación con la pandemia de la COVID-19, aunque nació mucho antes. En este trabajo, además de estudiar la historia de la interpretación, las modalidades y técnicas de esta que existen y el origen de la ISR, se expone un panorama general de las plataformas que más se utilizan para ofrecer servicios de interpretación simultánea remota, analizando las opciones que ofrece cada una de ellas al intérprete. Asimismo, se presentan algunos de los problemas que la ISR puede suponer para el intérprete y las normas ISO que han ayudado a establecer los requisitos y recomendaciones pertinentes para la buena calidad de los servicios de interpretación. Por último, se realiza un paralelismo entre la reticencia que creó la aparición de la interpretación simultánea cuando reinaba la consecutiva y el rechazo que creó en un primer momento la irrupción de la ISR.

Remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) burst onto the interpreting market with the COVID-19 pandemic, although it was born much earlier. In this research, besides studying the history of interpreting, existing interpreting modalities and techniques and the origin of RSI; an overview is given of the platforms most used to offer remote simultaneous interpreting services, analyzing the options offered by each of them to the interpreter. It also presents some of the problems that RSI can pose for the interpreter and the ISO standards that have helped to establish the relevant requirements and recommendations for good quality interpreting services. Finally, a parallel is drawn between the reluctance created by the emergence of simultaneous interpreting when consecutive interpreting reigned and the rejection that was initially created by the emergence of RSI.
