Proyecto educativo. Agua potable, contaminantes y sus efectos en la salud en regiones en vías de desarrollo

Abstract

Aproximadamente un cuarto de la población mundial no tiene acceso a agua potable de calidad suficiente. Las principales regiones afectadas son Oceanía, África Subsahariana, Centro y Sur de Asia, Norte y Oeste de África, Este y Sudeste Asiático y, por último, regiones de Latinoamérica y Caribe, y en ellas, la población consume agua con una baja calidad, en muchas ocasiones contaminadas por sustancias de muy diferentes naturaleza, desde contaminantes biológicos, como enterobacterias, que provocan enfermedades como diarrea, hasta contaminantes de origen químico, resultado de vertidos industriales y otras formas de contaminación. El presente proyecto educativo tiene como objetivo principal el conocimiento de los principales contaminantes, las patologías que provocan, su tratamiento y formas de prevención. Se llevará a cabo en instalaciones en las propias regiones afectadas, además se contará con la colaboración de ONGs para la formación de profesionales sanitarios, y concretamente enfermeras, en sus propios países de origen.

Roughly a quarter of the world's population does not have access to drinking water of sufficient quality. The main regions affected are Oceania, Sub-Saharan Africa, Central and South Asia, North and West Africa, East and Southeast Asia and, lastly, Latin American and Caribbean regions, where the population often consumes water contaminated by substances of very different nature, from biological contaminants, such as enterobacteria, which cause diseases such as diarrhoea, to contaminants of chemical origin, resulting from industrial discharges and other forms of pollution. This educational project has as its main objective the knowledge of the main pollutants, the pathologies they cause, their treatment and forms of prevention. It will be carried out in facilities in the affected regions themselves, in addition to having the collaboration of NGOs for the training of health professionals, and specifically nurses, in their own countries of origin.
